Mauricio Pochettino has rejected a possible return to Tottenham, with his focus on the Real Madrid job should Carlo Ancelotti take up the Brazil job.
That’s according to TyC Sports, who say Pochettino has no interest in returning to the club he once managed and led to the Champions League final.
The idea of a reunion with the Argentine has been mooted since Antonio Conte was sacked a weak ago, with many fans keen to return to the football that once had Tottenham competing at the top of the Premier League.
Pochettino remains out of work after leaving PSG in July last year, but it seems he is not interested in going back to his former haunt.
TyC say he ‘rejected his possible return’ to Tottenham, something which has brought him closer to getting the Real Madrid job.
He is reportedly the favourite for Madrid president Florentino Pérez to replace Ancelotti, who has insisted he wants to remain at the club but remains Brazil’s prime candidate for the position.
That’s a sentiment he has reiterated on more than one occasion, but Madrid are planning just in case and Pochettino remains the favourite, with his decision to reject Tottenham’s approaches not going unnoticed.
