Hugo Bueno joined Feyenoord from Wolves on loan in the summer transfer window.
The move came about despite the Spaniard making a mark at Molineux, but he still couldn’t nail down a first-team spot at the club.
The transfer to Feyenoord has proved to be a blessing for the left-back, who has been praised by many in the Netherlands after his performance against Utrecht.
Manager Brian Priske has also shared his views about the Spanish full-back. He spoke to the press after the Utrecht win, revealing that he hadn’t even seen Bueno play before the move from Wolves.
He said, as relayed by 1908.nl: “That’s the difficult thing in football. He did not play many minutes at Wolverhampton Wanderers before he came here.”
Priske also stated that the club relied solely on video footage to sign the 22-year-old.
“We saw good defensive actions that appealed to us, as well as the intensity he brings to his game. We even saw that in those few minutes he played for Wolves. We then also saw his qualities on the ball at the 1908 training complex.”
He praised the player further, highlighting his intensity on the ball that is proving important for the side.
“He has speed and plays with good match intensity. His passing is indeed very strong, in which he also makes the right choices.
“He is always a threat to the opponent in their own penalty area and therefore an important weapon for us.”
Bueno picked up his third assist of the league season at the weekend and he has also shown that he is well-suited to playing in the Champions League.
