Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva joined Anderlecht on a season-long loan deal last summer.
The striker’s temporary spell at the Jupiler Pro League side will be cut short in the winter market.
Anderlecht face RFC Seraing in the league on Sunday and the Wolves owned player will not be part of the squad. This has been confirmed by their manager, Brian Riemer, who has also revealed the 20-year-old will leave the club this month.
“A good question [about Silva]. I want full transparency on that. We are working on his departure and he has a few days off in the meantime. Nothing has been finalised at the moment, so I don’t know when he will leave, but he is not in the squad for Sunday,” he said, as quoted by Het Nieuwsblad.
Earlier this week, reports from Belgium insisted the Portugal U21 international doesn’t have any motivation to continue at Anderlecht. There were even suggestions the Wolves striker had an argument with his manager.
Riemer, however, has dismissed this claim and insisted the former FC Porto man has made up his mind to leave because he wants a new challenge in the second half of this season.
“Nothing happened between us. We spoke last night for twenty minutes. He didn’t do anything wrong. I read an article that there was a fight between us. That’s a total lie. It’s his decision to leave,” the manager explained.
“It is absolutely not the case that Anderlecht, or I personally, don’t want him anymore. It’s about his personal ambitions. You have to ask him what the concrete reason is for his departure. He liked being here and I also think he suited our football.”
On Friday, claims from the Belgian and the Dutch press said PSV Eindhoven have reached an agreement with Wolves to sign Silva on a loan deal in January.
