Aston Villa’s Morgan Sanson is currently on loan at OGC Nice and his future will be away from the Premier League side.
The Ligue 1 side have an option to make the midfielder’s loan deal permanent and their manager, Francesco Farioli, has confirmed he will stay at Nice beyond this season.
Nice will face Paris Saint-Germain later today and Farioli revealed the news about the Aston Villa owned player during the pre-match press conference, with his comments being relayed by L’Equipe.
“Morgan is officially an OGC Nice player for the coming seasons. Morgan has given a lot for this team this season,” he said.
The Frenchman has clocked in over 2,100 minutes from 31 games this season, scoring four goals and registering three assists in the process.
Nice seem to have activated the purchase option after he played the required number of matches this season and the club qualified for European competition next season.
Sources close to the matter have told L’Equipe that Sanson will sign a deal until 2027 and his permanent move to the French club will see Unai Emery’s side collect €4m.
Sanson joined Aston Villa from Marseille in 2021 and has made 23 appearances for them. Lack of regular opportunities at Villa Park saw him go out on loan since January 2023 and the midfielder will now leave the Villans permanently for Nice.
