As Portuguese outlet Record today features a piece on the Benfica players who are wanted by European clubs, they, of course, give Darwin Nuñez a mention.

The centre-forward has been having an impressive season with the Eagles, and that’s why he’s been linked to several big sides, with Manchester United’s chase being highlighted this week.

What Record has to say about the 22-year-old now is that his price is going up, as Benfica no longer rate him as they used to in the January window, especially with clubs like Ralf Rangnick’s side and Manchester City taking an interest.

It’s said the Eagles, who turned down an offer worth €50m from West Ham in the winter, used to demand €60m for the sale. Now, even that amount ‘will be insufficient’ for the prolific goalscorer.

Manchester United’s interest in Nunez is also today mentioned by Italian outlet Calciomercato.it as well. They point out the striker’s similarities to his compatriot Edinson Cavani, who coincidentally, is set to leave the Red Devils at the end of his contract this summer.

With Europe looking at the youngster as the new Matador from Uruguay, it seems the Old Trafford side are those who could have the chance to replace one with the other.

After all, we all know Manchester United have the money…
