Unable to stop France from exiting the Euros at the hands of a stubborn Switzerland, Paul Pogba now has time on his hands to sort out his future.
Rumours from Germany on Wednesday have suggested that Manchester United could be planning for life without their French midfielder through Leon Goretzka, but they still need to find a suitor for their own player.
One is certainly there in the shape of Paris Saint-Germain, who, according to Foot Mercato, want to pull of ‘something big’ this summer and sign either Pogba or Cristiano Ronaldo.
We’ll focus on the former, since it directly involves Manchester United, and it’s said that ‘despite the arrival of Georginio Wijnaldum, the club wants to bring in another man capable of bolstering the midfield’.
Down the player’s end, the Old Trafford star, as well as his agent Mino Raiola, are ‘open to the idea of a transfer to Paris’, with it said there is a ‘real opening’ for the Ligue 1 side to bring the Frenchman back to his country.
It’s said they want to bring ‘at least’ one of the two, suggesting that if budget allows, they might even go for both, following the signings of the aforementioned Wijnaldum and the likely arrivals of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Achraf Hakimi.
A big summer for the Paris side, who clearly didn’t enjoy losing their title to Lille and are hellbent on winning the Champions League sooner rather than later, eyeing up the Manchester United player to help them achieve that.
