Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has already said he was pleased with Eric Bailly’s display in the pre-season friendly against Liverpool, with the defender putting in a good performance against Jurgen Klopp’s side.

That has not stopped the centre-back from being linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

On Thursday, journalist Paolo Bargiggia reported the Manchester United man is one of eight players identified as targets by Napoli. The Serie A side must bring in a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly once he completes a move to Chelsea.

The option to sign Bailly is further discussed by Area Napoli journalist, Gianluca Vitale. He took to Twitter to report that apart from the Naples club, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are interested in signing the Ivory Coast international.

Bailly, for his part, ‘prefers’ a move to Napoli over the two Turkish clubs. The journalist states the ‘contacts are ongoing’ to sign the Manchester United defender on a free loan deal with a buying option.

Vitale doesn’t make clear whether the contacts are ongoing between Napoli and Bailly or between the two clubs. There is also no mention whether the Red Devils will accept the formula proposed by Napoli for the transfer.
