Even though it’s been a while since Manchester United were linked to Palmeiras winger Gabriel Veron, the interest from the Red Devils is still taken very seriously by the Italian media.
Outlet Il Resto Del Carlino today features a piece on Sassuolo’s chase for the 18-year-old, claiming the Serie A side are looking to find a fair deal for his transfer this summer.
Still, the report urges the club to move quickly, because in case Manchester United really ‘formalise’ their pursuit for the player, then that would make him ‘unattainable’ for the Italian club.
Even though the youngster is protected by a release clause of €50m, Sassuolo would now be planning to make a bid of €15m and add a few bonuses to convince Palmeiras.
That’s definitely a lot less than the price reported a few months ago.
This is the second article in three days reiterating Manchester United’s lurking around the forward, and while it could simply be to drive the price up, it’s also worth remembering this interest also isn’t new in the slightest.
When Veron won the Copa do Brasil and Copa Libertadores for Palmeiras, it was claimed the South American side were only letting him go if the release clause was triggered.
That no longer is the case, it seems, and it would make sense for United to pounce now, when the price is low.
