If Manchester United’s 4-2 loss to Liverpool taught Ole Gunnar Solskjaer anything, it’s that Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelöf don’t really work without Harry Maguire next to them.
It only reinforced the notion that the Red Devils need a new centre-back in the summer, perhaps over everything else.
Many names have been linked, with the likes of Jules Koundé and Kalidou Koulibaly regularly mentioned alongside the Old Trafford club in column inches.
One that’s also appeared here and there is that of Pau Torres, who will soon face Manchester United in the Europa League final, where Solskjaer will most certainly be keeping an eye on him.
It’s said the pair are ‘monitoring the situation’, with the newspaper then adding that the La Liga side ‘value their youth product at €30m’.
That seems awfully low, and it’s made clear the amount could ‘rise’ if either Real Madrid or Manchester United come forward with an offer in the coming months.
Certainly something to keep an eye on, but we’d be awfully surprised if Villarreal let Torres go for that little.
