Inter Milan signed Milan Skriniar from Sampdoria last summer, just 18 months after he joined the latter in January 2016.
The Slovakian international started in all 38 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri last season, scoring four goals in the process. His form for Inter hasn’t gone unnoticed and he’s recently been presented as a target for Manchester United.
According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld this summer. However, the Red Devils are having “difficulties” finding an agreement with the north London club for the Belgian.
It’s claimed Manchester United have now turned their attention towards Skriniar. Their local rivals Manchester City and Barcelona have also tried signing the 23-year-old.
Manchester United prepared a bid of €65m for Skriniar, but they have been told that Inter have no plans to let their defender leave. He is currently earning €1.5m-a-year at San Siro, and the Italian outfit are planning to hand him a new deal, which will see him earn €2.2m-a-year until 2023.
