Two days ago, Corriere dello Sport reported Manchester United have ‘come back strong’ to sign Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot.
The Red Devils were keen on landing the midfielder last summer. The Frenchman’s deal expires in June and given Juve’s situation [they failed to qualify for the Champions League], he has his ‘bags ready’ to change clubs.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who state Manchester United are ahead in the chase for the 28-year-old.
Erik ten Hag had to deal with injuries and suspensions in midfield last season, leaving him with limited options on a few occasions.
The Premier League side want to protect themselves from repeating the same scenario next season, which is why they are looking at Chelsea’s Mason Mount.
Rabiot is also on their list and Manchester United would have ‘fewer complications’ to sign him since he’ll be available on a free transfer.
Ten Hag’s side are ‘ahead at the moment’ to sign Rabiot in the summer, despite his former club, Paris Saint-Germain, also asking for information about the player.
Manchester United could be given another chance to sign the France international, a year after they failed to acquire his signature.
