Manchester City are one of Alessandro Bastoni’s suitors, according to claims coming out of Italy.
Inter Milan must raise funds to balance their books and the defender’s sale is an option.
FcInterNews explain the 23-year-old is attracting interest from a few clubs and that includes Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the centre-back has no desire to leave the San Siro this summer. His coach, Simone Inzaghi, is also against the idea of the Italy international being moved away from the club.
Despite interest shown by Manchester City and others, no club have come forward with an offer so far. Inter chairman Steven Zhang ‘could say yes’ to his sale for €70m.
Another report from FcInterNews states Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola ‘appreciates the characteristics’ of Bastoni. Although his desire is to stay, Inter could be forced to sacrifice him in order to balance their books.
The player is calm and his current focus is on the national team, while his agent, Tullio Tinti, works in the background on his future. The representative had held talks with the Nerazzurri regarding his client’s contract situation.
Bastoni earns €2.8m net per year and with bonuses included, it could rise to €4m. A move away from the San Siro can help him earn a better salary, but his desire is to stay at Inter.
The discussions between Tinti and Inter over his client’s renewal ‘could forcefully return to fashion’ if Bastoni keeps reiterating he doesn’t want to leave, irrespective of the offers he will receive this summer.
Although there are several factors indicating Bastoni’s willingness to stay at Inter, at the moment it is not clear as to where he will play next season. Manchester City are said to be in the mix to sign him this summer.
