Earlier today, we covered claims made by Eurosport Spain and AS, who explained Ferran Torres is ‘very close’ to joining Manchester City.

The winger has a year left on his contract at Valencia.

Local newspaper Super Deporte claims the 20-year-old has not responded to the renewal proposal, which has been on the table for a ‘long time’.

The La Liga side are in urgent need of funds, mainly because they have not qualified for the Champions League.

The newspaper explains it’s not clear what came first, the club’s desire to sell the Spain U21 international or his ‘unwillingness’ to sign an extension.

Torres’ is expected to leave the Mestalla and it’s stated everything indicates, unless there’s a ‘last-minute surprise’, his next destination will be City.

Manchester United and Juventus were also chasing the player, but they are behind Pep Guardiola’s side.

Eurosport Spain earlier reported there’s an agreement in place between the Spaniard and the Citizens. Super Deporte have echoed these claims, and they further add there won’t be a problem for the two clubs to find an agreement.

Valencia were waiting until the last minute to see if Torres will sign an extension, but that changed after the emergence of City’s interest.

According to the report, the two clubs have been in contact for Torres. The Spanish side have made it clear to City that they are only looking for a full transfer and will not accept any players being included as part of the deal.
