Earlier on Monday, we relayed an article in Gazzetta dello Sport claiming Inter had turned to Nicolas Otamendi to bolster their defence, while Eliaquim Mangala was also a possibility.

We stated the Frenchman was probably a far more realistic target than the former Porto and Valencia star, and it seems Corriere dello Sport agree with this, as they report the 26-year-old could very well end up at San Siro, with a bit of ‘help’ from Manchester City.

The Italian newspaper state Mangala, who was on the bench on Saturday against Brighton, has been offered to the Serie A outfit via a ‘FIFA agent’ as it became clear he wouldn’t be first choice at the Etihad.

The player is said to be looking for ‘new accommodation’ i.e. a new club, and Manchester City would be prepared to pay some of his ‘lavish’ wages.

There’s no indication whether this would be a loan or a full-on transfer, but with a contract until 2019, there’s still time for the Cityzens get rid of him permanently next year if needs be.

Inter’s manager, Luciano Spalletti, is said to be reflecting on this option, and our guess would be his decision will be made in the coming days or so, especially when his other target appears to be Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen, who, for now, doesn’t appear to be going anywhere.
