On July 7th, Corriere dello Sport stated Juventus have identified Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte as a candidate to replace Leonardo Bonucci in the summer window.
The Spain international, who can operate as a centre-back and a left-back, was linked to the Serie A side in the past and is back on their agenda this summer, according to Calciomercato.
It’s claimed the 29-year-old’s profile and qualities make him well suited to Juve and their new director Cristiano Giuntoli has made him the ‘priority’ target, should one of Bonucci, Gleison Bremer or Alex Sandro move elsewhere.
Having received the Manchester City defender’s willingness to join the Old Lady, they now ‘prepare a strategy’ to secure his services.
The outlet states the Turin club, via intermediaries, have informed Pep Guardiola’s side of their desire to sign Laporte on a loan deal with a redemption option.
Although the Citizens are willing to let go of him, they are looking to sell the player and not for less than €30m.
Calciomercato say Juve are ‘convinced’ that Manchester City would accept their conditions to carry out the deal in this window because Laporte’s contract expires in 2025. Whether that’s the case remains to be seen.
