Angeliño returned to Manchester City when the Premier League winners signed him from PSV Eindhoven last summer.
Pep Guardiola preferred other players in the left-back position and a lack of opportunities in the first half of this season saw the 23-year-old join RB Leipzig on loan in January.
On March 4th, the fullback hinted the Etihad club’s European ban could encourage him to leave City in the summer.
His contract with City is until 2023 and Angeliño has provided an update on his future while speaking to La Voz de Galicia.
“I went to Manchester when I was 16, and I got the thorn in my head from not settling down. But I’m still a Citizen and I don’t give up getting a place there,” he explained.
Angelino was with City from 2013 to 2018 and having struggled to find a place, he left them for PSV in 2018, only to rejoin the English side a year later.
When asked if Guardiola spoke to him before the loan move to Leipzig, Angeliño said: “Yes. He said he was going to be delighted, that it was the perfect setting to see me again.”
The defender has made eight starts for the Bundesliga side in all competitions and is enjoying life in Germany. He insisted it wasn’t a last minute decision to join Leipzig on the final day of the winter market.
“It wasn’t like that. It was an option that was there and that eventually came to fruition. It was the best option. Spectacular. Perfect for everything: the style, the team, the coach, the stadium, the fans… It took a while, but I’m very happy,” the Spaniard stressed.
