Having arrived at Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan from Anderlecht before the start of the season, Leander Dendoncker has made only three starts for the English club and only one of them came in the Premier League.
Limited playing time with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side saw reports from Belgium suggest the only option for the 23-year-old is to look for a transfer in the winter market.
On New Year’s Eve, we carried a report from Italian newspaper Tuttosport, who claimed that AS Roma are looking at the Belgium international as he’s ‘easier to get’ than other targets in the mid-season transfer window.
Following this report, the player’s brother, Andres Dendoncker, who is also his agent, gave an interview to Italian radio station Tele Radio Stereo and explained his client’s situation at Molineux.
“I have read these articles and they are market rumours. There are so many names mentioned at the moment,” he said.
When Andres was further quizzed if he spoke to Roma sporting director Monchi about his brother, he said: “We are evaluating different options for Leander, but we have not talked about it with Monchi himself.
“First of all, we need to talk to Wolves and make the right decision with the club.
“You should ask about Dendoncker to the Roma director. I think they have great midfielders right now, Nzonzi for example, has a similar player profile.”
