Sunderland look set to miss out on the signing of Đorđe Petrović, with Bournemouth stealing a march on the Premier League returnees.
That’s according to Sacha Tavolieri and Dominik Schneider, who both cover the situation today and the disappointment for Sunderland.
The former explains that Bournemouth are currently working to beat Sunderland to the signing of the Chelsea goalkeeper.
He states that ‘the deal was almost done’ with Sunderland but once Bournemouth learned of the talks, they felt they had a chance and matched their offer. Another club, so far unnamed, is in the mix.
Schneider adds that Petrović is set to join Bournemouth this summer after they reached an agreement with Chelsea. The goalkeeper also has a place in terms of personal terms with the Cherries.
There are still details and formalities to be finalised and he is yet to undergo a medical but the transfer is progressing quickly and he appears destined to move to the south coast rather than the North East with Sunderland, who appear to have been gazumped by a late bid from Bournemouth as they seek a new number one.
