Earlier this month, AS reported Everton are demanding €70m for Amadou Onana as top European sides circle around their star.
The Belgium international has been a regular this season, making 23 appearances, managing two goals and an assist in the process.
La Dernière Heure state the Everton star has ‘made his decision’ and he’ll continue at Goodison Park at least until the end of this season.
Arsenal and Newcastle United are both following him closely, but the report explains that he ‘should stay’ at Everton.
The former Lille man’s decision should come as a boost for Everton and help them in their battle to avoid relegation for a second consecutive season. They could have blocked a transfer anyway, of course, but it works better to have the player decide.
Sean Dyche’s side are 17th in the table, one point ahead of 18th placed Luton Town, who have a game in hand, and three points behind 16th placed Nottingham Forest.
On Thursday, Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri explained that Financial Fair Play issues are ‘ruining’ Arsenal’s chances of securing Onana’s services in the winter market.
Barcelona have also been linked, and that could be an ambition for Onana in the summer.
