New Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Julen Lopetegui is eyeing a move for Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz, and teammate Nacho Fernandez.

That’s according to Sport, who cover the interest in both players, particularly the striker, and whether a move to Molineux could happen.

They report the player ‘could be heading’ to the Premier League as Lopetegui wants to ‘start a revolution’ in the Wolves squad with his signing.

Similar to his his time at Sevilla he is looking to the Bernabeu for singings and Mariano Diaz is a name that has ‘taken more force’ than others.

He is not a part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans, having only played 25 minutes in five games this season, a derisory record for a player who has been ‘stagnant’ at Madrid for several seasons.

Mariano Diaz could therefore ‘put an end’ to his time as a Madrid player during the winter transfer window, with Lopetegui having ‘fixated’ on securing his signing for Wolves to bolster their forward line.

The Spanish coach would also be interested in adding Fernandez to his squad. He is another player who has struggled for time at Real Madrid this season with Militao, Alaba and Rudiger all performing well and limiting him to 412 minutes of action.

At the minute, though, the main priority is Mariano Diaz, with Lopetegui said to be keen to bring him to Wolves as his first major signing.
