With Wolverhampton Wanderers having a short pre-season tour in Portugal, the local media managed to hold interviews with some of their players in the past few days.
One of them is Fabio Silva, who spoke to newspaper O Jogo, and is today highlighted on their front page.
The striker, who used to play for Porto, was obviously asked many questions about his past in his home country, and that included a potential return to his old club.
Silva had been linked to the Dragons last season, and now admitted that he wouldn’t rule out a return home.
“It is difficult to answer that question. When I talk about FC Porto it’s always difficult, because I came from the academy and I feel the club like many don’t. I felt the DNA of this club. I can’t say yes or no, it depends on the moment and the conversations, on how things can unfold. We’ll see, but I’ll never say no to FC Porto.”
“I have people working with me who take care of these things, like my agent. Wherever I am, I always give my best, I try to help the team. That’s what I did here today [the day before yesterday]. Regardless of whether I stay or not, as long as I’m here I’m going to give it my all.”
“If I have to stay, I will do my best to help the team and it will always be the secret to continue to evolve and be better. I try not to focus too much on what surrounds, I try to focus on the game and learning from the technical team. [Julen Lopetegui] is a new coach for me, I try to absorb what he wants. If I stay, I will do my best.”
Silva was not part of Wolves’ plans last season, as in the summer he was loaned to Anderlecht, and in January made a switch to PSV Eindhoven.
Now he’s having a chance to impress Julen Lopetegui during the pre-season, and that should tell if he’s staying at the club this time.
