Earlier this week, reports from the Italian media stated Liverpool have joined the race for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
In a story from newspaper Corriere Dello Sport which said ‘everyone’ wants the 26-year-old, the Reds were named among other Premier League sides.
Liverpool’s advantage to attract the player would be a much bigger salary, since he receives €1.8m per season at Fiorentina and could get a ‘mind-boggling’ offer to move to Anfield.
Now even though Amrabat may feel this desire to join the Reds, La Viola may actually be prepared to hold him.
A story from Fiorentina News today quotes club director Daniele Prade claiming: “Amrabat, we hold on to it.”
It’s said the Italian club ‘shake their head’ to a sale now. The player is protected with a contract until 2024, and they can use an option to extend until 2025. They’re actually not even concerned about that, as it’s said they do not consider the issue ‘relevant’, and they have ‘control’ over the situation.
So Liverpool’s salary offer should remain harmless until they actually place a bid to convince Fiorentina of the sale.
