Liverpool’s interest in Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio is today again being highlighted by the Portuguese media.
Newspaper Jornal de Notícias shares a story claiming Jurgen Klopp is ‘not satisfied’ with the Reds’ defence and has the Lions’ player as ‘one of the names on the list’.
Following claims from the English press which highlighted the problems in Liverpool’s squad, the Portuguese outlet claims to have information that the Anfield club sent scouts to watch Gonçalo Inácio in several games last season.
It’s pointed out that the player is protected by a €45m release clause, and that price tag isn’t expected to be an issue for the Reds or any other English club.
Liverpool’s interest in Inácio is also mentioned today by A Bola. They feature a story claiming Sporting are working to keep him with a new deal, and add the Reds as one of the interested clubs.
The €45m release clause is said to be the main reason for a potential new contract. The Lions want it to be at least €60m, but ideally €80m. So if Liverpool are making their move, they better do it before the new contract is signed.
