Liverpool and West Ham United are ‘in the queue’ for Napoli star Piotr Zielinski as his contract enters its final six months in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who say the Premier League duo could compete with Juventus for the Polish midfielder’s signature.
The newspaper covers the various avenues being explored by Juventus ahead of January when they need to find replacements for Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, who have been suspended for a failed drugs test and gambling on football respectively.
They’re looking at various options around Europe, including potential ones inside Italy, and Zielinski could be one of them.
His contract with Napoli ends next summer and he’s yet to renew his deal with the Italian champions, meaning he will be free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs from January 1st should he wish.
It also means that Napoli may be willing to sell him on the cheap to ensure they get a fee rather than lose him on a free transfer in the summer and it is because of that several sides are seemingly lining up.
Juventus could be one of them, but they face competition for a potential ‘illustrious free transfer’ and Corriere say Inter Milan, Liverpool and West Ham are ‘in the queue’.
Whether there has been any contact with the player or anything of that nature isn’t mentioned, just that they’re part of the teams lining up.
That’s certainly not surprising when it comes to Liverpool as they’ve regularly been linked to the player since Jurgen Klopp arrived at the club and even made offers according to a claim this week.
West Ham have also been linked, albeit less so than their counterparts at Anfield, with several reports at the end of 2022 and early this year making it clear they were interested.
It seems that remains the case and they may be a side to keep an eye on as we get close to January and Zielinski’s deal continues to dwindle down.
