It may have been a couple of months since Liverpool were last linked to Sporting defender Gonçalo Inácio, but the Portuguese media hasn’t forgotten about that chase.
The Reds’ pursuit is today recalled by O Jogo, who now claim that the Anfield side are actually interested in two of the Lions’ centre-backs.
The newspaper’s main story is about Ousmane Diomande, who’s having a great season for Sporting and is now drawing interest from several European sides.
Liverpool get a mention there, as they’re named in a battle which includes the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United.
Liverpool’s interest in Inácio is a lot older, even though the Anfield side never actually placed a bid for his signing.
Sporting are expected to use the players’ release clause to negotiate in the summer. That means the initial request for Diomande will be €80m, while Inácio’s is €60m.
With Liverpool following both, they’ll certainly have enough information to make the best decision.
