Alex Meret’s good form in the Italian second division has reportedly attracted Liverpool’s attention.
According to website Calcio Mercato, the Reds have been watching the 19 year old goalkeeper as he works on his development in a lower tier.
Meret belongs to Serie A side Udinese, but has been on loan at SPAL since the start of the season, and is staying there until June.
The loan is just a way for him to get more game time, since his potential has been known in Italy for a few years now. He has caps for four of the Azzurri youth levels, including in the U19 Euros last year.
Liverpool are not alone in the race. Although Calcio Mercato says the Reds are ‘watching’, they also claim Inter Milan and Juventus ‘want’ him, which should mean their interest is stronger at this stage.
It’s unknown how much Udinese would ask for the player, and that would very much depend on how they see things long term.
