Liverpool have confirmed Roberto Firmino will leave Anfield when his contract expires at the end of this season.
This week’s edition of SportBild states the Reds’ announcement about the Brazilian could have ‘bad consequences’ for Eintracht Frankfurt, and that’s because the Merseyside club have set their sights on Randal Kolo Muani.
The striker joined the Bundesliga side on a free transfer last summer and has enjoyed a good debut season, scoring 16 goals and registering 14 assists in all competitions this season. He was on Liverpool’s list before he joined the German club and is now back on their radar.
For now, Jürgen Klopp’s side are only ‘watching’ the France international, who is also on the agenda of other Premier League sides, including Manchester United.
The 24-year-old’s deal expires in 2027 and it doesn’t include a release clause. Liverpool or any other club that want to sign him in the summer will have to invest ‘over €100m’.
Internally, Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche keeps telling the player that it’s best for him to continue his development at the club for one more season.
Meanwhile, Randal Kolo Muani could consider a change if a top club offers him the ‘right sporting perspective’.
Whether Liverpool will offer him that, considering all their attacking options (regardless of Roberto Firmino’s departure), remains to be seen.
