In the past year, we’ve seen several reports from Brazil and Portugal saying Arsenal have been interested in Porto’s Pepê.

So as the Gunners had a scout watching Porto’s performance against Inter Milan in the Champions League, it’s hard not to think about this chase.

It’s newspaper A Bola who report that Arsenal had an official present, even though there were no details about who their exact target is.

When Arsenal started being linked to Pepê, the player was still a winger. Now, he ended up being adapted to a right-back, and is actually doing well there.

Pepê had his offensive performance praised by the local media today, with newspaper O Jogo claiming he was Porto’s ‘main source of creativity’ against Inter Milan. He got sent off at the end of the match, but that didn’t affect how local outlets rated him.

The Brazilian is valued by Transfermarkt at €22m, and is protected by a €75m release clause.

Arsenal had also been linked to Mehdi Taremi this season, but that was mentioned as a potential emergency signing due to the injury of Gabriel Jesus.

With the Brazilian striker now recovered, we’d need to wait and see if the Gunners would still chase the Iranian.
