Even though it’s Newcastle United who’ve been most linked to Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, reports in the Spanish media today highlight Liverpool’s interest in the player.
The claims come from Marca, where journalist Diego Pico says the Reds should battle the Magpies for the signing.
It’s first recalled that Newcastle already made an attempt, as it’s ‘true’ that Valencia turned down a €25m offer from Eddie Howe’s side.
Now when highlighting that clubs are ‘pushing hard’ for Mamardashvili, it’s said that Liverpool is a ‘new door’ that is opening to the goalkeeper.
The Reds are said to be the ‘first team in line’, and the reason for it is a ‘multi-million’ offer that they have from Saudi Arabia for Alisson.
It isn’t explained, however, if Liverpool are already in advanced contacts with Valencia for Mamardashvili, or even if they placed a bid.
Marca just make clear that the Anfield side now show up as an interesting alternative for the goalkeeper, and Newcastle may face some big competition from their Premier League rivals.
