Real Madrid are ‘about to finalise’ a deal to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund despite him receiving a ‘dizzying offer’ from Liverpool.
That’s according to Marca, who say the Spanish giants have ‘fought’ with the Reds and Manchester City for the England star and managed to win the battle.
The newspaper explains that Real Madrid are about to finalise a deal for Bellingham for next season after working for many months in the shadows on the deal.
They say that Liverpool and City had ‘put up a lot more money’ than their counterparts from La Liga but that has not made a difference and Real Madrid are now ‘working on closing the fringes’ of the deal for him.
Bellingham has decided to play at the Santiago Bernabéu next season and that is why Liverpool have pulled out of the race publicly.
Real Madrid’s strategy to sign him has proven to be a winning one, with them now having an agreement in principle with the player which will see him make the move on June 30th.
Dortmund have already accepted the fact that Bellingham will be moving on and it is now just a case of finalising the price of the operation, with Madrid wanting to pay Madrid wanting to pay €100-120m and Dortmund expecting €140m.
Marca believe the final figure should be in that €100-120m range.
Madrid are now the only club they are negotiating with, though, with the European champions having succeeded in convincing the midfielder despite ‘dizzying offers’ from Liverpool and City. Indeed, it’s stated they offered ‘much more’ than the Spanish giants.
It is other factors which have convinced the player, though, leaving Liverpool to pull out and focus on other targets for Jurgen Klopp’s summer rebuild.
