A week ago, we saw Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg revealing Liverpool’s interest in Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
The report dismissed the Reds chase for Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, saying they were ‘out of the race’, and had the Saints star as ‘one of the priorities’ instead.
It turns out that Plettenberg is today back with an update on this situation, this time claiming talks between Liverpool and Lavia are ‘concrete and ongoing’.
His report highlights that Reds boss Jurgen Klopp ‘wants’ the Southampton player, who has a price tag around £50m. It’s just not said whether the Reds are close to reaching Southampton’s request for the transfer, and maybe that’s a sign the Anfield side will have no problems to afford that.
Plettenberg makes it clear that there’s ‘no agreement’ between Liverpool and the player regarding personal terms for now.
Lavia has a contract with the Saints running until 2027, and is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €32m. He’s just one of the players edging to the exit door following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
