Back in June, the Catalan newspaper talked about Barcelona’s desire to sign Liverpool’s Luis Díaz this summer.
The La Liga side didn’t make progress because they have been focusing on Nico Williams. The Spaniard decided to take the No.10 shirt at Athletic, which indicates he’s expected to continue at the Basque club.
Mundo Deportivo say this has forced the Catalan club to look at other options in the market, including the Liverpool star, to further bolster their attack.
As well as the 27-year-old, the Spanish club have Bayern Munich’s Kinglsey Coman and AC Milan star Rafael Leão on the names that are on the table at the Camp Nou. The Colombia international is ‘still very popular’ at the Camp Nou among these targets.
They were ready to offer up to €62m for Williams and are willing to offer a similar fee to sign another forward.
It’s pointed out the former FC Porto man, who is a self-confessed Barcelona fan, has been on their radar, and he’s back on their list again for this window.
The report states the Dutchman’s arrival may lead to the player’s exit, but this feels more like what Mundo, on behalf of Barca, are hoping for instead of him waiting to leave.
Either way, Liverpool are unlikely to make it easy for Barca or another club to sign Díaz at this stage of the window. He has a contract lasting until 2027.
