It seems that Jordan Henderson is going to be leaving Liverpool this summer, and his destination will not surprise anyone: Al-Ettifaq.
Previous reports stated the England international could end up making as much as £700k/week if he chose to leave the Reds and team up with Steven Gerrard, but the latest in France suggests his wages will be far less than that.
The news comes from Marc Mechenoua, who took to Twitter to bring the latest on the Liverpool player’s situation.
He points out what everyone already knows, which is that Henderson has not travelled with the rest of the squad to Germany, before adding that while there are still ‘details to be sorted’, the two clubs are ‘close to an agreement’.
That’s why Henderson is ‘edging closer’ to a move to Saudi Arabia, where he would be signing a three-year contract worth €15m/year.
Per week, that would €289k, which equates to just over £250k/week, which is far less than previous reports.
Therefore, if he does leave Liverpool, it might well be for the money, just not the mind-boggling amounts that were being pushed in certain parts of the media.
#Mercato
