Liverpool have now joined the growing list of clubs keeping tabs on Montpellier star Elye Wahi.
That’s according to France Bleu Hérault, relayed by Made in Monegasque, who explain the Reds have already sent an official to closely observe him in action for the Ligue 1 side.
Liverpool’s French scout was in attendance at the Groupama Stadium last weekend to watch Montpellier’s clash against Lyon.
It’s said the Merseyside club’s representative ‘undoubtedly appreciated’ the 20-year-old, who scored all four goals for his side.
Unfortunately for Wahi, it wasn’t enough as his side suffered a 5-4 defeat at Lyon’s home stadium. That’s all the report has to say about Liverpool.
The France U21 international has been one of the standout players at Montpellier this season, scoring 17 goals and registering five assists from 30 games. It’s no surprise his fine form has seen his suitors list grow.
Jürgen Klopp’s side are not alone as Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, AS Monaco and a few other Premier League sides are all chasing Wahi.
The Frenchman has a contract until 2025 and it remains to be seen what Montpellier plan to do with him in the summer.
