Liverpool signed Luis Diaz from FC Porto in January 2022, and the Colombian has been a success at Liverpool so far. There’s been injury issues, but there’ll be no regret at Anfield over signing the player in the first place.
Premier League clubs continue to look at Portugal for their recruits, with the Reds doing so again when hiring Darwin Nunez from Benfica last summer.
Prior to both the Diaz and Nunez transfers, Liverpool had been sending scouts to watch Porto and Benfica, so it was clear there were transfers on the agenda.
Interestingly, Sunday’s edition of O Jogo reports Jurgen Klopp’s side had an official at yesterday’s match between Porto and Famalicao.
Porto, who were the away side at their local rivals, won the match 4-2. The best player on the pitch for Porto was their 30-year-old striker Mehdi Taremi, who scored all four of their goals.
Liverpool haven’t been linked to many Porto players recently, so it’s a guess as to who they were looking at. However, it appears the possibility of signing a Porto player is back on the agenda.
