After a summer of quite a few “close but no cigars”, it’s time to see whether Le10 Sport know what they’re talking about when it comes to Thomas Lemar to Liverpool.

Just to refresh your memory, they were the ones that said Monaco were inclined to accept the Reds’ offer for the French winger, but were waiting to see if Tottenham would come along and trump their bid.

That, as of yet, hasn’t happened, but the French website claim to have an update on the situation on Wednesday.

Following reports from L’Equipe that Liverpool had offered Monaco €80m (€50m now and €30m next year) plus Divock Origi on loan for a year, Le10 state that the Ligue 1 champions aren’t interested in the Belgian international’s profile.

Furthermore, they state that if Lemar is to go, it’ll be for a cash-only operation, and it’ll need to be for more than the what they’ve offered so far.

Jürgen Klopp is said to ‘absolutely’ want the 21-year-old for his midfield three, and, having gone this far, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Liverpool pushed even more to get their man.

We’ll have to wait and see if any of this actually happens first.

And just 20 minutes or so after that snippet of information, SFR Sport, relayed by RMC Sport, claim that a meeting is currently taking place between the two sides regarding the deal.

Make of that what you will.
