Liverpool’s interest in Theo Hernandez is understandable. The 19 year old left back would provide a boost in quality for Jurgen Klopp and is available for a buyout clause of €24m.
It’s not just money Klopp can attract Theo with. The Frenchman would almost certainly be first choice, whereas he wouldn’t be that at Real Madrid, who have Marcelo, and probably at Barcelona, who have Jordi Alba.
Manchester City and Bayern Munich isn’t quite so serious at this stage.
Currently on loan at Alaves, Theo was unable to immediately to break into Atletico Madrid’s first team, and Filipe Luis likely has at least another season as first choice for Diego Simeone.
It will be tough for Liverpool to complete such a deal, but if Klopp is as serious as it’s claimed, then the Premier League club need to use their advantages: High wages, and pretty much guaranteed playing time.
