Liverpool and Newcastle United continue to monitor Juventus forward Federico Chiesa as the possibility of him leaving the Italian giants grows.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport and various other Italian media today, who name the Premier League duo as possible buyers for the Juventus man.
Gazzetta kick things off by reporting that Chiesa is one of the names that could be moved on by Juventus this summer as the look to bring in funds for their own business.
There is a feeling that he could be ill-suited to the 3-5-2 system Maximiliano Allegri wants to implement and, knowing that there are suitors willing to pay for him, Juventus may sell.
The newspaper states that much of what Juventus plan to do in the market ‘will depend’ on whether Chiesa stays or leaves but the player is ‘always in the thoughts’ of Liverpool and Newcastle.
Their interest is also backed up by journalist Giovanni Albanese, who has been speaking to TV Play, relayed by Calciomercato.it, regarding the player.
“On Vlahovic and Chiesa, they are two different contractual situations and this it can make the difference,” he said.
“Vlahovic has a long contract, in case of permanence Chiesa would have to renew. Currently, he’s not waging war to leave Juve, but if an important offer arrives to play in the Champions League, he’ll evaluate it. Liverpool and Newcastle need to be monitored closely.”
Sport Mediaset, meanwhile, state that Chiesa is very much ‘not non-transferable’ for Juventus this summer, but they will not accept negotiations for less than €50-60m.
They repeat the belief that he may struggle in the new 3-5-2 and add that, because of that, the player himself may push for a move to ‘turn his career around’. To be clear, they do not mention Liverpool or Newcastle.
Both have been consistently linked in the last few weeks, though, with it claimed earlier this week that the Magpies were set to open new talks with his agent.
That followed a report explaining that Jurgen Klopp was a big fan of Chiesa’s and would love to have him if there is a deal there to be done.
The interest from both clubs is well established, then, and in Italy at least they believe it is worth keeping an eye on both as Juventus eye sales this summer.
