Liverpool are tracking Sassuolo attacker Grégoire Defrel, according claims in the Italian media. The Frenchman has already been linked with a move to England in the past after local rivals Everton held talks with his former club Cesena to sign him last year.
Sportmediaset have today claimed Liverpool are interested in Defrel, and could look to move in on the player when the transfer window opens in January. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp sent one of his scouts to Italy to watch the game between Sassuolo and Genoa on Sunday.
Defrel impressed during the game and scored his side’s second goal, before being substituted in the last ten minutes.
Last year we covered reports Everton were among a number of Premier League clubs reported to be on the scouting list that attended the game between Cesena and Lazio. At the time it was claimed Everton held talks with Cesena with regards to signing the player.
However, that summer Defrel signed for Sassuolo for a fee in the region of €5m, and the 25-year-old has continued to impress for the Serie A side.
