Back in April, we covered claims from Spain that Liverpool are one of the clubs chasing Athletic star Nico Williams.
Fast forward to July and Marca shares the latest on Liverpool’s desire to sign the winger.
After impressing for the La Liga side last season, he has starred at the Euro 2024 for Spain, who have made it to the semi-final in Germany.
The 21-year-old’s performances for La Roja haven’t gone unnoticed and Marca say four European clubs, including Liverpool, want him.
It’s claimed the Spain international are already attracted the attention of top clubs and among these, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Chelsea are the ones ‘keen to sign him’ this summer.
The Reds haven’t made a formal offer to the Basque club, who aren’t willing to negotiate with the interested parties over a potential deal.
The report claims Williams’ release clause is between €55m and €58m, and his clause has to be activated for him to leave the club.
Marca point out Liverpool had previously shown interest in Nico’s brother, Iñaki Williams, and he snubbed the Merseyside club and committed his future to Athletic.
The newspaper says Athletic are hoping for Nico to also snub interest from Liverpool and other clubs, and continue playing alongside his brother next season.
