Following Josko Gvardiol’s recent success, it’s hard to think of any European giants who haven’t been linked to him lately.
That’s the case of Liverpool, who, last month, were said to be interested in the RB Leipzig defender.
Those rumours didn’t have many interesting developments, but we now get to see some kind of confirmation about this chase coming from the German media.
Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg today writes that Gvardiol is ‘on the list’ Liverpool have for the summer window.
The reporter claims the defender would be ‘a great fit’ for the Reds, even though the talks are ‘not hot’ for now.
According to Plettenberg, Leipzig are ‘100%’ completely focused on keeping Gvardiol. That’s why there are ‘no negotiations’ with Liverpool taking place right now.
The player is said to be have a release clause for the summer of 2024, and that’s of €110m.
That seems an obvious issue for the Reds’, who’d have to spend a lot on a centre-back.
But we must recall there’s also big competition to sign Gvardiol, especially with Manchester City and Real Madrid being heavily linked to him in the past few weeks.
News #Gvardiol: As reported yesterday #LFC is interested! He’s on the list. It would be a great fitting. But I’ve been told that it’s not hot at this stage. No negotiations. Leipzig wants to keep him 100 %. Release clause in summer 2024 (!) is around €110m. @SkySportDE 🇭🇷 pic.twitter.com/hv1BUedPbI
