Liverpool will send a scout to watch over midfielder Aguibou Camara in Olympiacos’ clash with Antwerp.
That’s according to Sporttime journalist Giannis Chorianopolous, who says the Premier League side are among a list of clubs sending observers to the Europa League game.
Antwerp host Olympiacos in the final game of Group D, with the Greek side needing all three points and results to go the opposite way if they are to beat Frankfurt to first place in the group.
If that is to happen, they will need their key players to step up, and Camara is among them, having established himself as a star for the Greek side in recent years.
The 20-year-old is already on five goals and two assists in 20 games this season, a tally that, couple with impressive displays, has earned him plenty of attention.
Reports in England have already linked him with a move to the Premier League, with claims two weeks ago that Liverpool, Newcastle and Leicester were all looking at a move.
It is Jurgen Klopp’s side who are particularly keen, with a report in Greece in October claiming that a shining display in a Europa League clash against Fenerbahce had been spotted by a Liverpool scout, who subsequently ‘started asking around’ about the midfielder.
That report added that there were likely to be developments in future, and the Reds were ‘expected to keep an eye on him’.
That certainly seems to be the case, with Chorianopolous now reporting that Liverpool, among others, will send a scout to watch over Camara in Thursday’s clash with Antwerp.
The journalist offers no more than that, so we’re not sure whether this is the first time the Anfield side have scouted Camara since those first reports in October, or it’s the latest in several scouting missions.
We’d suggest it’s the latter, so expect to hear more of Camara in the coming months, particularly if he impresses in this game.
