On Thursday, we covered Het Laatste Nieuws’ claims from Belgium that Borussia Dortmund are in talking terms with Liverpool about Divock Origi.

The same publication now reports the former Lille man will not make a switch to the Signal Iduna Park in the final week of the German transfer window.

The Merseyside club wanted to cash in from the sale of their striker, while the Bundesliga outfit were interested in taking him on a loan deal with an option to purchase.

Since the two clubs failed to reach an agreement over the demands of the transfer, the 23-year-old will continue at Anfield, at least until the transfer window in January reopens.

The Reds allowed him to go out on loan to Wolfsburg last season, but he failed to impress to get into Jurgen Klopp’s plans at Liverpool.

Origi is behind Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Sturridge in the pecking order, meaning he is unlikely to feature regularly at the Premier League club in the first half of this season.
