Liverpool fans will certainly remember the rumours regarding the Grêmio forward Luan. Even though reports said a bid was coming, our sources said there was nothing concrete, and there’s been a huge silence ever since.
Anyway, in case Liverpool were really interested, there are some very relevant updates on the player’s situation at the Brazilian side.
First is: he’s very close to agreeing a new contract. As reported by Zero Hora, Luan will receive a good pay raise, and his release clause will be changed.
Although these deals normally make the clauses go up, this is not the case here. The outlet claims the figure is going from €60m to €25m, in order to make it more realistic.
Grêmio president Romildo Bolzan has spoken to Radio Gaúcha this week, and also gave a little update on the situation.
“We are close, few details are missing. What is lacking is actually drafting the document and seeing if lawyers approve. If there’s no appropriate offer, he will stay with us for a long time.”
Luan has been pretty good in the past few months. He’s scored seven goals in nine games between the Libertadores, Serie A and Copa do Brasil. After showing what he’s capable of during the Olympics last year, the forward seems to be reaching his career peak, and it won’t take long until an European club come and get him. Especially with this new clause.
Will that be Liverpool? Let’s wait and see.
