On April 26th, Foot Mercato reported that Liverpool have ‘gone on the attack’ for Monaco star Aurélien Tchouaméni.
It was also explained Jürgen Klopp ‘loves’ the midfielder and the Reds have held talks with his agent.
Two days later, AS further backed up claims about Liverpool chasing the 22-year-old for the upcoming window.
The France international’s current deal runs down in 2024 and the Ligue 1 side have an option of further extended it by a year. However, he ‘opens the door’ to leave the club after this season.
“I have a contract with Monaco until 2024, with an option until 2025, we’ll see what the future holds,” Tchouaméni said, as quoted by AS.
“We’re going on vacation, and we’ll see when we get back, who they’ll be when we get back. Why not stay and play the Champions League? The elimination in the previous round against Shakhtar got stuck in my throat. Playing the Champions League with Monaco is not something that displeases me.”
AS then go on to mention Real Madrid interest and also about the talks they have held with Monaco, after both the player and his agent gave priority to the La Liga side.
However, the newspaper states there are many clubs ‘who are interested’ in Tchouaméni. The ‘queue of suitors is long and important’ for the Frenchman, and the list includes the Merseyside club.
Monaco, for their part, value their star at €70m. This is a ‘problem’ for Real Madrid as it is ‘essential’ for them to reduce the price tag by ‘more than €10m’.
If Liverpool are ready to meet the French club’s valuation, then Klopp’s side could have an advantage in the chase for Tchouaméni.
