On February 15th, Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona are attracted by Everton star Amadou Onana and what he could offer them.
Later that month, we covered claims from the Spanish press that the La Liga side insist on signing the 22-year-old.
The Catalan club have to sign at least one new midfielder in the summer and Sport bring the Everton player back into the mix.
In fact, the report states Onana is the first name on Barcelona sporting director Deco’s list and he’s the one ‘most liked’ by the Spanish club’s management.
Taking his age, physique and qualities into account, the Blaugrana believe he has a bright future ahead of him. It’s further claimed the sporting director has made contact with the Belgium international’s entourage.
Everton invested €35m to sign the player from Lille in 2022, and both Deco and Barca are aware that the Toffees are ‘willing to sell’ him in the next window.
Sean Dyche’s side are said to value Onana at over €60m and the Spanish giants won’t be able to meet that request. The latter will only move ahead with this operation if Everton were to offer a discount.
Barca also believe Onana would be cheaper if the Merseyside side club, who are currently four points above the danger zone, are relegated this season.
As well as the Everton player, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich, Feyenoord’ Mats Wieffer and Girona’s Aleix Garcia are on Deco’s list.
