Manchester City winger Kayky is on his way to Bahia, according to claims from Brazil.

Globo Esporte writes that after landing in Rio de Janeiro at the weekend, the player is spending some time with his family and then signing a one-year contract with his new club.

Kayky had been at Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira on loan, but Manchester City reportedly asked for his return after understanding that by continuing his spell there, he could ‘harm his development’.

When landing in Brazil, the player only answered questions saying “let’s see”, although Globo Esporte insists that people close to him ‘confirm’ the agreement with Bahia.

It’s been a couple of months since the City Group took over Bahia, and this is likely to be the first signing the Brazilian club make from one of their new partners.

Kayky joined Manchester City in a €10m deal from Fluminense in the summer of 2021. He stayed with the club’s U23 squad for a year, and last summer was loaned to Paços Ferreira. He only made nine appearances in Portugal, with no goals scored, and that was the big reason why he’s cutting short the spell to change clubs.
