Nottingham Forest opened their Premier League campaign on Saturday with a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the match was an injury suffered by Danilo. The Brazilian appeared to have picked up a serious ankle injury, with the pictures doing the rounds creating reasonable cause for concern.

Whilst there’s no denying the injury and the upcoming lay off, things may not be quite as bad as many feared.

Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade reports on Sunday that despite the widespread fright at the time, the injury is ‘less serious than expected’.

Danilo is now set to undergo minor surgery on Monday, and then all being well his recovery time is estimated at six to eight weeks.

Whilst that’s certainly a blow for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, it’s obviously much better than may have been the case, and it must be a huge relief for the player himself and those around him.

Nottingham Forest’s next game of the campaign is away to Southampton on Saturday.
