On Wednesday, we covered claims from Italy that Leicester City’s negotiations with Inter Milan had been unblocked for Stefano Sensi’s transfer. It was also stated the Foxes are looking to sign him on a permanent transfer.
This is also echoed by Calciomercato, who provide more updates on the work being done behind the scenes to get the deal over the line.
Leicester are trying to find a solution with the Serie A side to sign the 28-year-old, in order to keep on the right side of financial sustainability rules.
As of Wednesday morning, the deal was on standby because the Foxes had to first get rid of one of their own players before presenting an offer for the Italian.
Calciomercato state that according to the regulations, a player with less than six months left on his contract can’t be transferred through a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
Therefore, Enzo Maresca’s side are trying to convince Inter with a ‘new proposal’, with a ‘minimum immediate payment’ to buy Sensi. It’ll also include a bonus of €2.5m if the Foxes get promoted back to the Premier League.
In the last few hours, the player’s agent has met with the Inter directors to find out whether the deal will go through.
The report says the negotiations between the two clubs are ‘coming to an end’, indicating that Sensi should be able to complete a move to the King Power Stadium on deadline day.
