Two days ago, Celtic’s Gustaf Lagerbielke publicly requested Brendan Rodgers’ side to let him make a switch to Italy in the winter market.

Lecce are keen on signing the 23-year-old and Corriere dello Sport reported yesterday that his desire to leave Celtic Park is proving to be an ‘ally’ for the Serie A side. It was also stated they wanted a quick response.

According to Salento Sport, the Italian club’s efforts to sign the Celtic man haven’t had the desired result yet.

Both Lecce technical director Pantaleo Corvino and sporting director Stefano Trinchera are ‘trying in every way’ to unlock the negotiations with Celtic Park club.

However, ‘nothing is moving yet’ as Celtic have blocked the defender’s exit after Cameron Carter-Vickers picked up an injury. Therefore, they haven’t responded to Lecce yet.

The Serie A side want to sign the Sweden international on a loan deal with the right of redemption. Rai claim he was ready to board a plane to Salerno, but that won’t happen as of now because Lecce’s negotiations with Celtic have ‘stalled’.

It’s claimed Carter-Vickers’ injury has ‘stopped’ Brendan Rodgers’ side from sanctioning a move for Lagerbielke, despite his request to leave Celtic Park.
